The Room of Requirements.
Whenever someone asks me what I am doing in the middle of Sonepat in peak summer, my response is "oh, I am doing an internship on campus at the makerspace." This leads to the one question that me and my peers dread a lot: "What is the makerspace?"
There is no perfect answer for that. It can be anything you want it to be — from an electronics lab to a DJ studio. I personally think of the lab as The Room of Requirements from Hogwarts. It becomes what you need at that point in time.
In fact, that's how I even ended up at the makerspace in the first place. One random conversation with a prof about doing something other than academics, one random email and I just showed up to 007 trying to open the door (amateur mistake lol!) and the rest just happened.
But never did I think I would end up as a summer intern. I am really glad that I am spending my summer with the team. I have gotten my hands dirty in a lot of things like electronics, CAD, programming and many more.
Looking at my peers at the lab, our interests are so different — we are like the infinity stones. It's really a motivation when you go to the lab at 2 am (lowkey looks like Darth Vader's ship) to get your charger and you see someone on CAD, turning blue lines to black.
The lab molds itself to anyone's needs without any restrictions. It's really surprising that a space like this exists at Ashoka, where restrictions and structures dominate every other space.
Glad I knocked on 007 at the right time. Haven't looked back since.
